Andrew Goodman, James Chaney and Mickey Schwerner were CORE workers murdered in the first days of the ”Mississippi Summer.” They were killed by police and Ku Klux Klan members in Neshoba County. The murders resulted in increased involvement by the Federal Government in the state. A massive search effort was ordered by President Johnson using the State National Guard. The FBI obtained this confession. The murderers were put on trial in Federal Court. Excerpts of the trial transcript.
