My Brother - A Remembrance of Sorts

My brother is engraved in my mind, age 23.

Always older, wiser, more daring, more foolish, a young man. My brother is perched on my shoulder,

My conscience, my scourge, my curse, my devotion, a lance.
My brother is lost, I must find him, for his sake

For my sake, for our sanity, our brevity has left its stanch.

My brother has decided, that this time is final

No apologies, just finality, our heartache to implant.

My brother is engraved in my mind, age 23

I would wish him good luck, if I could, for all the things that he
planned.

My brother is a powder in a canister, no belonging

Just a feeling, dusty memories where I once gave a damn

My brother is engraved in my mind, age 23

Always bolder, filled with certaintude, step ahead, one last chance.
